When you look back at your success now, is there a sense of gratitude or do you think of the divine interference or…?
It’s a mixture, I guess. Timing is important. Everybody should have at least a clear picture of what they want. Then how much they get is a different thing. But if you just sit and say “chance” or “luck“, it’s not like that. It’s not easy. You have to make the right decisions. On timing: There are some aspects in life where every minute is important and every decision is right. You doing an interview today will be the right decision for the film. You do it after, it’s something else. There are so many things beyond our control but you should have the control sometimes — at least you should try to have a clear picture of what you want in life and where you’re heading. I feel conviction is the essence.
You and Prasanth Neel have been on this adventure for a few years now. What’s the one thing about him that really stands out for you?
He is a very genuine guy. Any filmmaker or actor has to be honest, and he is brutally honest – that’s one quality I really like. He is a team player, and there’s not even an iota of ego in him. He is a very smart guy. He knows everyone working on a project and nurtures talent. He always preferred working with people who are talented and dedicated rather than looking at their position or their experience. It’s about the vision and when he wants something done, he gets the best out of everybody.
